GCSE Creative i-Media- The OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge National Certificate in Creative iMedia
This qualification will assess the application of creative media skills through their practical use. They will provide learners with essential knowledge, transferable skills and tools to improve their learning in other subjects with the aim of enhancing their employability when they leave education, contributing to their personal development and future economic well-being. The qualifications will encourage independence, creativity and awareness of the digital media sector.
Prior learning/attainment
Learners who are taking courses leading to any of these qualifications should normally have followed a corresponding Key Stage 3 Programme of Study in ICT within the National Curriculum. There is no requirement for learners to achieve any specific qualifications prior to undertaking these qualifications. Please follow the link for more information:

OCR Cambridge Technicals (2016) Level 3
You will gain an insight into the IT sector as you investigate the pace of technological change, IT infrastructure, the flow of information on a global scale, and the importance of legal and security considerations. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, the Level 3 Cambridge Technicals in IT focus on the requirements that today’s universities and employers demand.
Cambridge Technicals provide a strong base for progression to university, apprenticeships or work and are recognised for UCAS tariff points*
Mandatory Units-240 GLH
Exam sessions each year in January and June
Unit 1 Fundamentals of IT- 90 GLH- Externally assessed-Exam 1hr and 30 mins , 80 Marks Part A 18-20% multiple choice Part B- short answer questions appx 10 marks per question.
Unit 2 Global Information- 90 GLH- Externally assessed-Exam 1hr and 30 mins , 80 Marks Part A short answer based on pre-release case study of 42 marks, Part B not based on case study 38 Marks of Max 10 marks per question.
Unit 3 Cyber Security- 60 GLH, 1 hr, 60 marks, Part A short answer based on pre-release case study 40 marks, Part B not based on case study 20 Marks, Max 8 marks per question.
Optional Units 120 GLH
Project (course work)-internally assessed and externally moderated
Unit 8 - Project Management
Coursework marked internally, worth 16.7% of the A level
Unit 9 - Product Development
Coursework marked internally, worth 16.7% of the A level
All units assist in the development of transferable skills such as communication and problem solving. The optional units encourage the development of time management, research and analytical skills as well as emphasising the need for good written and verbal communication skills.
Grading
Examined units are graded Near-Pass, Pass, Merit and Distinction.
Internally assessed units are graded Pass, Merit and Distinction.
The qualification is graded P, M, D, D*.
