At Key Stage 3, our intent is to follow the programme of study as laid out in the National Curriculum. Through good teaching and learning, we aim to ensure learners have computational thinking and digital literacy. This ensures learners experience elements of Computer Science, ICT and Digital Media to build up their skills and understanding of the subject.

In lessons, teachers will encourage students to think creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically. The aim is to develop and stimulate pupils’ curiosity, interest and creativity in ICT and Computing.

This is done by encouraging pupils to become autonomous users of ICT with the associated skills, supporting lifelong study and or employment in a modern world that is fast moving and using technological resources.

At key stage 4 and key stage 5, we aim for students to understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of Computer Science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms, and data representation.

The computing intention is to provide students with a broad and balanced view of the range of applications and information systems and an understanding of their capabilities and limitations. We want students to understand the impacts of digital technology on their personal lives, their working lives and to wider society.

The intention of the computing curriculum is that it delivers transferable skills for everyday life and also gives pupils engaging exposure to ICT, Digital Media and Computing.
