Curriculum

Academy Foundation Learning

In the years leading to national certification all students follow the National Curriculum, working in either attainment set or mixed ability groups, as appropriate, studying subjects that underpin lifelong learning such as:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Technology
  • Information & Communications Technology
  • Religious Education
  • A Modern Foreign Language
  • Humanities (Geography/History)
  • Creative Arts (Art, Music, Drama)
  • Physical Education
  • Personal, Social and Health Education, including Citizenship

Accreditation

After this foundation of learning stage, courses are followed that lead to GCSE examinations that include:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Physical Education
  • Personal, Social and Health Education, including Citizenship
  • Religious Education

As well as these core subjects, students are able to select from a wide selection of courses including vocational courses which cover work-related learning that enable our students to make choices reflecting their aptitudes and interests.
