About the Academy
Academy Specialisms
All Academies are required to offer a specialism. In the case of The Oxford Academy these are in Maths & ICT and Sport. We ensure that, while offering a broad and balanced curriculum, there will also be emphasis on these subjects so students will benefit from specialist teaching as well as from the academic and vocational curriculum. Our specialisms provide tremendous opportunities to link with a range of projects in the area, providing students with opportunities to develop confidence, understanding, experience and skills. Curriculum planning is further shaped by the Academy’s specialisms in Maths & ICT and Sport.
The Governing Board has appointed advisers, distinguished in their respective fields, to support the development of these specialisms, so that the Academy has a pioneering approach to how these subjects are taught in ways that inspire and engage our young people.
