About the Academy
The Principal
Mike Reading joined the Academy as it prepared for opening in January 2008. As an experienced teacher and Headteacher, Mike arrived at The Oxford Academy from Lincolnshire having been involved in the leadership of schools in the East Midlands. He is married to Ronnie and has a son.
Mike started his career in education in Oldham, Greater Manchester, before moving to Grantham in 1993. From there, he worked in both single sex and co-educational schools. Being Principal of The Oxford Academy follows experience of working in a full range of schools.
The vision for the Academy that Mr Reading brings is for it to raise the achievements of local students and to place learning at the heart of the local communities. The establishment of a new centre for learning for secondary-aged children in the areas of The Leys, Rose Hill and Littlemore is an exciting opportunity; that Mr Reading is proud to be leading.
