Oxford Academy

Year 9 Science Club

Year 9 Science Club is on Thursdays from 3-4pm. University students from Oxford University join us to work with the students on the weekly challenge. The students enjoy working with the university students each week, talking to them about science and university, and trying to win the weekly prize for completing the challenge!

Some examples of the challenges so far are:

Can you drop an egg from  the art floor to the science floor without it  breaking? All the groups kept their eggs unharmed, and the winning group caused the egg to drop the slowest because their parachute had extra supports in it.

Who can make the strongest bridge using two packets of spaghetti? The winning bridge held 4kg!
