War Horse Production- a trip to the West End

Earlier in the summer term, thirty students from Years 8 and 9 left The Oxford Academy to visit the New Theatre in London’s West End. The English department had organised the trip to see the highly-acclaimed National Theatre production of Michael Morpurgo’s 'War Horse'. Students have studied the book throughout the year and were very excited to have this fantastic opportunity. Everyone enjoyed the day and the additional chance to see famous sights such as Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery on the trip.

The performance was spectacular and we especially enjoyed the amazing puppets which were very realistic and convincing. Opinion was divided amongst students and staff about whether we preferred the book or the play, but everyone agreed that the experience had been worth the wait!
