Partnerships
The Academy has a number of partnerships with other schools, universities and organisations to further enhance the opportunities available to the students and staff to develop. Some examples of these include:
International Inspiration - India
Our partnerships with schools, universities and organisations enhance our educational offer to students
Representatives from the Academy went to Purulia, 250 miles inland from Kolkata to witness how sport and education are changing the lives of the children in the area. The Oxford Academy is one of the first in the UK to be partnered with a school in West Bengal through the International Inspiration programme, which uses the power of sport to transform the lives of millions of children and young people in developing countries. As part of this link, there will be a focus on sharing teaching and learning resources for rugby and basketball in Purulia Zilla School and to share expertise relating to the development of gymnastics and yoga to enhance the curriculum at The Oxford Academy. It is also hoped that some of our sports leaders will visit the school in Purulia as both schools work towards establishing a Dreams and Teams club.
Primary Care Trust and Youth Sport Trust - Local Primary Schools
The Oxford Academy Sports Development Team has trained a number of the Academy's Year 12 students to deliver the Active Lifestyle programme to local primary schools, in partnership with the Primary Care Trust and Youth Sport Trust.
Our specialism in sport means that healthy living and physical activity is actively encouraged
The Active Lifestyle programme aims to increase the amount of sport and physical activity our least active young people undertake on a weekly basis. The students visit the schools to engage the pupils in fun sports and activities. The project is being organised and run by the Thame and Oxford SSP and is supported by Healthy Schools and the Primary Care Trust (PCT).
Aiming Higher - University Links
In partnership with the innovative 'Aimhigher' scheme our students work with associates from Oxford Brookes University who actively support and encourage them to consider higher education.
