Fishing nets results (2 images)
All six boys who took part in Fishing and Land Management course last year have now all passed the course. Ryan Cheetham gained a level 2, Lucas Edwards, Lee Davenport, Bradley Cox, Connor Henderson and Joe Booker all gained a level 1. This was a fantastic course that allowed the students to develop as a team, have time out from traditional classrooms but still learn new ways of accessing the curriculum. I am very proud of the boys and the benefits it has given them. This year we have seven more students doing the course and I hope it will be just as successful if not more. Mr Fisher

We would like to say a huge thank you to Edunova and Willmott Dixon who, in connection with our exciting new building programme, offered Academy students an incredible opportunity to watch their favourite stars perform at the amazing O2 arena in London. Coursework Exhibition (5 images)
The Oxford Academy Art, Drama and Design Technology departments exhibited their Year 11 GCSE coursework on Wednesday 7 July 2010 from 3:15pm to 6:30pm and the occasion was a great success. Students from the Art department were invited to take part in a workshop at Modern Art Oxford to learn how artists and curators exhibit work and then applied such knowledge to setting up their own salon style exhibit. It was down to their ideas and creativity to then lead and direct others, including staff, as to how they would like to arrange and advertise the show. All visitors expressed their praise and pride of both those who set up the exhibit as well as the hard work and dedication of all the students to create such an impressive body of work. Well done to the Year 11's who will be greatly missed!

Angling and Land Management (6 images)
This year a group of six students have completed a course in Angling and Land Management. Some have achieved a level 1 qualification; we are hoping some have even managed to achieve a level 2 qualification but are waiting on external moderation. The students have been doing theory lessons about angling and land management on a fortnightly basis in school. This has been alternated with practical lessons mainly taught at Milton Pools, Thame where they have learnt how to fish safely. All six students have been fantastic, with a great attitude and keen interest throughout the course. Most have now bought fishing licenses and equipment and fish in their own time as a result of the course. All students have caught fish, the biggest of which weighed in excess of 6lb. I have been really impressed with the students' attitude and motivation to learn about the environment as well as what is in the lakes. As a result of the course The Oxford Academy have now started a holiday fishing programme run by a member of staff (Mr Mark Fisher) and the fishing tutor.
