Fishing Residential

As a reward for all the hard work, and commitments shown by the Angling group this year, they were taken to the Avon Tyrrell activity centre in the New Forest from 24 - 27 June for a three day fishing residential.

The students included: Connor Williams, Daniel Turner, Andrew Harkins, Timmy Bone and Lewis Meek and they were accompanied by staff members Mark Fisher and David Lammin

Students stayed in a lodge and fished on Friday afternoon, all of Saturday and Sunday morning. On Saturday, the group took part in a fishing match that was won by Daniel Turner who caught 28lb of fish in 6 hours! Close behind in second place was Timmy Bone with 27lb of fish. Daniel was presented with a fishing shield which was donated to The Academy and will be awarded each year from now.

The group spent Sunday evening visiting Mudeford, Christchurch and Bournemouth where they could explore, eat dinner on the beach and play on the amusements in the area. Some students had never been to the New Forest before, and had rarely seen the sea, so we felt it important to show them as much as possible during the short time we were there.

A fantastic weekend with a great group of students - we will definitely be going again next year.
