Detentions

At The Oxford Academy detentions can be issued if a student is not following L.E.A.R.N. in a classroom, or has poor behaviour at break times.

  •  The length of detentions are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour depending on the phase a student is on.
  •  Detentions are to be sat the day the consequence is issued.
  •  Parents will be informed via text message if their child has a detention.
  •  If a student fails to turn up to a detention they will lose one break or both breaks depending on the phase the student is on. If a student refuses to sit a detention on three or more occasions they will be placed into Out of Hours, 8:30am – 4pm.

  •  Out of Hours is one of our school provisions for students who do not follow the rules put in place. Out of Hours runs from 8.30am - 4.00pm. During this time students will be out of their normal lessons working with a behaviour specialist. Work will be provided.
