Community Learning

The Oxford Academy is passionate about educating not only our students but our whole community!  We offer educational courses to family and friends of our student’s and members of the local community totally FREE of charge. Take a look at some of the courses currently available. We are continuing to grow our relationship with Abingdon & Witney College, who will be delivering Adult Learning Courses from The Oxford Academy. 


ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages

ESOL courses are designed to improve English skills and also aid parents/carers in helping their children with homework. This will also benefit home - school communication. The next course running is starting on 16th January at John Henry Newman Academy.

Adult GCSEs

The Oxford Academy runs adult course GCSE's. Our courses are designed for those over the age of 19 and are looking to study at a foundation level; there are no eligibility criteria. Sessions take place during the evenings and run for 2 hours per week term time only.

Introduction to Childcare


This course is a great first step for anyone who is considering a career in early years’ settings such as preschools, nurseries and crèches. It is also ideal for parents and volunteers who would like to take up a supportive role in a childcare environment. "You're Hired!" Employability Skills

  • This course is specifically designed for those aged over 19 struggling to get in to work, or who are returning to work. The 6 week course teaches you how to make your CV sparkle, it will boost your confidence and give you a great head start with interview techniques. Email or call to register now.

Over 50’s Basic IT Skills

  • Learn the basics of IT such as accessing the internet, formatting files, word processing, social media, skype and much more in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Email or call us to register your interest for the next 5 week course.
