Academy students visit the Houses of Parliament

A level students at The Oxford Academy recently visited the Houses of Parliament in London, having been learning about the role of parliament in making and passing laws. The visit was arranged through MP Andrew Smith. The students really enjoyed the tour and said they found it informative and interesting. During the day students also visited Downing Street and the Supreme Court and even sat in on a live case! It was a case of defamation involveing a police officer and The Times Newspaper.  The visit was a real insight for students and brought the world of the law to life for them, beyond the classroom.

The aim of the trip was to have a tour around the Houses of Parliament which was brilliant; we got to see many of sites we had seen on the news for years. Not only was it great too see some of the amazing things inside the Houses of Parliament, we also picked up on some valuable information which will help with our course.
