Academy Sixth Form goes from strength to strength

We are delighted that, following the release of A level results, the Academy Sixth Form achieved a fantastic 94 per cent pass rate. Having introduced English at A level, the Academy has seen a remarkable 100 per cent pass rate in this subject.  Students who shone include Charlotte Jones and Shane Pledge who achieved above and beyond their predicted grades. In addition, the Academy has enjoyed tremendous success in its vocational courses.

In 2010, Ofsted rated the Academy Sixth Form as ‘good’ and praised its ‘positive ethos’ and ‘well structured guidance’. The report also found that the Academy Sixth Form ‘raises students’ aspirations and encourages and enables them to progress to university.’ This year’s results are further proof of the strength of the Academy Sixth Form, with more students than ever exceeding their target grades and progressing onto higher education.

Principal Mike Reading commented: ‘staff at The Oxford Academy are committed to ensuring our students reach their full potential. Our success at A level means our students are well prepared for their next stage at university, employment or further studies. These are exciting times for both the Academy and the Sixth Form as we go from strength to strength in our exceptional new surroundings. We are thoroughly committed to extending post-16 provision in Oxford, working in partnership with Oxford City Learning. For all our students, the Academy is achieving lasting change.’
