We interviewed our high achieving student Mark Thomas on his excellent A Level results and aspirations for university...  

Q- Subjects studied and grades achieved?

A- BTEC Sport Studies, AAA

Q- What are your next steps following your A Level results?

A- I am going to further my education in Sport and PE at Bedford University by doing a ‘Sports Development and PE Teaching’ degree.

Q- Are you excited for university?

A- Yes! After visiting the University of Bedford with The Oxford Academy I’ve been dreaming of beginning my degree. Mr Roper told me all about all the student experience he had at Bedford and I can’t wait to begin my own experience there.

Q- Is it true you are the first to go to university in your family history?

A- It is indeed true; my family are all so proud to see me go to university!

Q- Were you pleased with your results? 

A- Yes I worked really hard for my assessments, and I’m extremely happy that my hard work has paid off and got me into the university of my choice.

Q- What are your long term goals and ambitions?

A- I’d really like to be a PE Teacher, and I am going to do everything that I can to achieve this ambition. I have already spoken to my PE teachers at The Oxford Academy and they have given me great advice.

Q- How have The Oxford Academy supported you in achieving your goals and ambitions?

A- The Oxford Academy has offered me support from day one in realising my potential. I wasn’t completely sure what I wanted to after I finished my A levels at first but I received lots of guidance which helped me firm up on what I wanted to do.  Also, when I have found a certain topic difficult I’ve always received support and encouragement from my teachers. They pushed me to do my best and I’m grateful for it

Q- What advice do you have for next year’s A level students?

A- Make sure you get into a routine that allows you to balance your time between school work and extra-curricular activities.

A- It is a great place to gain an education due to the amazing teachers and facilities.
